Sibyl is a novelist who switched careers to become a psychoanalyst ten years ago. Driven by the desire to write again, she decides to drop most of her patients. As she is creating a void to find inspiration, a young actress in distress begs her to see her. Margot has been made pregnant by the lead actor… who is sharing his life with the director of the film. While the young woman tells all about her passionate dilemma, Sibyl, fascinated, starts to record her secretly. Margot’s words will fuel Sibyl’s writing, while plunging her in a vortex of her own past.  

When Margot begs Sibyl to join her in Stromboli for the end of the shooting, everything accelerates at breath-taking speed.
